The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Banks committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 12, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 17, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Commerce, Small Business and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 1993. The committee held work sessions on March 30, 1993 and April 6, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 4, 1993 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 11, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature on May 19, 1993, as Chapter 154. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
