The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On February 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 15–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 8, 1993 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 22, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 23, 1993, making it Chapter 80 of the session laws. It took effect on June 22, 1993.
