  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1993-1994
  • House committee: Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Miscellaneous

The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 1993. The majority recommended that the Senate pass it, and the minority recommended that the Senate kill it. On February 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 13–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 8, 1993 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 22, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 29, 1993, making it Chapter 98 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
