SB 160 (1993)

relative to qualifications for unemployment benefits.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1993-1994
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Insurance
  • Subject: Employment
  • Chapter law: 288

The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On February 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 1993. The committee held a work session on April 6, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 12–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 22, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes. On May 25, 1993 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment () was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 1993. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2978) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 21, 1993, making it Chapter 288 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
