The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Environment committee. The committee held public hearings on January 28, 1993 and February 4, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On February 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a division vote, then referred it on to the Senate Fin committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 15, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on April 15, 1993 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 22, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0. On May 4, 1993 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Appropriations committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 10, 1993. On May 11, 1993 the House adopted “Suspend Rules on deadline”, on a motion by Rep. M Hill & Trombly. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 15–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 18, 1993 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 9, 1993, making it Chapter 217 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1993.
