The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On February 17, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Executive Departments and Administration committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 1993. The committee held a work session on May 5, 1993. On May 20, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the House adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 3, 1993 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 7, 1993 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 9, 1993 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote.
