codifying the "fireman's rule."
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 1993-1994
- House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
- Senate committee: Insurance

- Chapter law: 261
The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 10, 1993 and was referred to the House Commerce, Small Business and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 1993. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee instead. The committee held public hearings on April 7, 1993 and May 11, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 11–0. On May 20, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 15, 1993, making it Chapter 261 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
