The Story

It was introduced on March 4, 1993 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held public hearings on March 17, 1993 and March 30, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 15–2. On April 13, 1993 the House adopted “Suspend Rules to consider”, on a motion by Rep. Gross & Trombly. On April 13, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 15, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 29, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 19, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 17, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 23, 1993, making it Chapter 313 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1993.
