The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 1993 and referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 3, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 3, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 11, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held public hearings on March 24, 1993 and April 7, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 27, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 13, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 24, 1993, making it Chapter 164 of the session laws.
