It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 20, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 11, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 9, 1993, making it Chapter 190 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
