The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Commerce, Small Business and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 1993. The committee held a work session on March 1, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 10, 1993. On March 10, 1993 the House adopted “Special Order to 03/11/1993”. On March 11, 1993 the House adopted “Special Order to 03/16/1993”. On March 16, 1993 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 1, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 8, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 29, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 13, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 24, 1993, making it Chapter 162 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1993.
