The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 14, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 18, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 4, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 1, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 19, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the Senate adopted “Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 1, 1993 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 29, 1993 the House adopted “Suspend Rules for report”, on a motion by Rep. Gross & Trombly. On June 29, 1993 the House voted to adopt it on a voice vote. On July 1, 1993 the Senate adopted “Suspend Rules for report”, on a motion by Sen. Blaisdell.
