The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 13–5. On February 18, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 4, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 18, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On May 11, 1993 the Senate adopted “Recommit” on a voice vote. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 18, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 15, 1993, making it Chapter 241 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1993.
