HB 215-FN (1993)

relative to extradition.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1993-1994
  • House committee: Corrections and Criminal Justice
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Crimes, Criminal Procedure and Corrections
  • Chapter law: 121

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Corrections and Criminal Justice committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 3, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 11, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 27, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 11, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 17, 1993, making it Chapter 121 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1994.
