The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 16–1. On February 11, 1993 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 18, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 4, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 19, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature on June 16, 1993, as Chapter 275. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
