The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 1993. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 15–0. On February 18, 1993 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 4, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 18, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On May 11, 1993 the Senate voted to kill it on a voice vote. On May 19, 1993 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On May 19, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 25, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 15, 1993, making it Chapter 238 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1994.
