The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 1993 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 1993. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 10–9. On March 3, 1993 the House adopted “Special Order to 03/04/1993”. On March 4, 1993 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 11, 1993 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 1, 1993. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 11, 1993 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 18, 1993 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 25, 1993 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 9, 1993, making it Chapter 175 of the session laws. It took effect on August 8, 1993.
