The Story
The committee held a public hearing on January 7, 1992. It was introduced on January 8, 1992 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 19, 1992 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on February 20, 1992 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 1992. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 14, 1992 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 29, 1992 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 4, 1992, making it Chapter 138 of the session laws.
