  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1991-1992
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 1992 and referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on January 30, 1992. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 27, 1992 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on February 27, 1992 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 1992. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 7, 1992 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On April 21, 1992 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 23, 1992 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 23, 1992 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 24, 1992, making it Chapter 96 of the session laws. It took effect on April 24, 1992.
