The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1991 and referred to the Senate Special Redistricting Comm committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 1991. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 26, 1991 the Senate adopted “Special Order to 03/28/1991” on a voice vote. On March 28, 1991 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on April 2, 1991 and was referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 1991. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 30, 1991 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 1991 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 13, 1991, making it Chapter 102 of the session laws. It took effect on May 13, 1991.
