  • Term: 1991-1992

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1991 and referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 14, 1991. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On March 26, 1991 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on March 26, 1991 and was referred to the House Constitutional and Statutory Revision committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 1991. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 12–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 30, 1991 the House voted to pass it with changes. On May 2, 1991 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On June 12, 1991 the House adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 12, 1991 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a roll call 17–5. An enrolled bill amendment () was adopted on a voice vote on June 20, 1991. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 1991 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 2, 1991, making it Chapter 387 of the session laws. It took effect on July 2, 1991.
