  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1991-1992
  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Education
  • Subject: Education - General

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1991 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 1991. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 20–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 21, 1991 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on March 5, 1991 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 1991. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 7, 1991 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 9, 1991 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 20, 1991, making it Chapter 132 of the session laws. It took effect on July 19, 1991.
