  • Term: 1991-1992

  • Subject: Counties

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1991 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 6, 1991. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 13, 1991. On March 13, 1991 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 1991 and was referred to the Senate Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 1991. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 2, 1991 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 14, 1991 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 21, 1991 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 28, 1991, making it Chapter 194 of the session laws. It took effect on July 27, 1991.
