The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1990 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 17, 1990. On January 23, 1990 the Senate voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the House on January 25, 1990 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Executive Departments and Administration committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 1990. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 27, 1990 the House voted to pass it with changes. On April 3, 1990 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes. The bill was enrolled on April 10, 1990 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 19, 1990, making it Chapter 157 of the session laws. It took effect on April 19, 1990.
