The Story
It was introduced on January 31, 1989 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 28, 1989. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0. On April 11, 1989 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Blacketor. On May 18, 1989 the House voted to send it back to committee on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on June 7, 1989, June 14, 1989, June 21, 1989 and October 2, 1989. The committee held a public hearing on October 24, 1989. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0. On January 9, 1990 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On March 27, 1990 the House adopted “Take from Table” on a division vote 242–76. On March 27, 1990 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Inexpedient to Legislate”, by a vote of 16 to 0.
