HB 1426-FN (1990)

relative to surrogacy.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 1989-1990
  • House committee: Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 87

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 1990 and referred to the House Children, Youth and Juvenile Justice committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 31, 1990. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 9–5. On February 14, 1990 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 15, 1990 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 21, 1990. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. The bill was enrolled on April 3, 1990 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 10, 1990, making it Chapter 87 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 1991.
