The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 1990 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 1990. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 1, 1990 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on February 8, 1990 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments committee. The committee held public hearings on February 14, 1990 and March 21, 1990. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 27, 1990 the Senate voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 3, 1990 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 10, 1990, making it Chapter 86 of the session laws. It took effect on June 9, 1990.
