The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 1990 and referred to the House Commerce, Small Business and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 6, 1990. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 14–3. On February 14, 1990 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 15, 1990 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 1990. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 27, 1990 the Senate voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 3, 1990 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 10, 1990, making it Chapter 77 of the session laws. It took effect on June 9, 1990.
