The Story
It was introduced on February 9, 1989 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 21, 1989. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 10–2. On March 23, 1989 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 1989 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 26, 1989. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 2, 1989 the Senate voted to lay it on the table.
