The Story

The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On April 18, 1989 the Senate voted to lay it on the table. On April 25, 1989 the Senate adopted “Take from Table”. The committee's amendment () was rejected on April 25, 1989. A floor amendment () was adopted on April 25, 1989, changing the text of the bill. On April 25, 1989 the Senate voted to pass it with changes. On May 4, 1989 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 9, 1989 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 17, 1989, making it Chapter 155 of the session laws. It took effect on July 16, 1989.
