The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 1989 and referred to the House Fish and Game committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 1989. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0. On February 14, 1989 the House voted to pass it, then referred it on to the House Appropriations committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 17, 1989. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 19–0. On April 11, 1989 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on April 14, 1989 and was referred to the Senate Capital Budget committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 26, 1989. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 2, 1989 the Senate voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 9, 1989 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 17, 1989, making it Chapter 148 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 1989.
