This bill was requested on behalf of the Department of Safety to reduce inconsistencies and resolve technical issues in existing statute. It consists of changes to include allowing boating violations to be resolved by paying a fine rather than forcing defendants (and Marine Patrol) to appear in court; applying the violation of riding on gunwales to the boat operator rather than the passenger, which is typically a child; removing the redundant specification of public and congregate mooring fees; clarifying the requirement to clearly display boat registration numbers; and removing outdated approaches to boater safety training, which have been replaced by the existing safe boater education statute starting with RSA 270-D:10. The amendment corrects some language in the original bill, and changes the effective date to allow this bill to apply during the 2026 boating season. Vote 16-0.
