Committee — INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE
This bill adds more categories to the definition of persistently dangerous schools. The state is required to submit an annual reporting to the US Department of Education of persistently dangerous schools. One of the new requirements would include an undefined term of poor academic performance along with a listing of targeted support and improvement schools. The targeted support and improvement schools are currently tracked and recorded by the state. Adding new definitions of persistently dangerous schools would require a review process with local education agencies and public comment before they can be included in statute. Vote 15-0.
