Majority — OUGHT TO PASS
The bill is very simple; it just prevents the sale of the location and other sensitive data regarding children. The operative word is “sale.” The bill therefor, does not prevent, say, parents who home school, from sharing information, or parents with children in summer camp sharing information. The bill is just about the sales of sensitive data. Vote 9-7.
Minority — REFER FOR INTERIM STUDY
While this could be a valid and needed bill, we have no knowledge of anything on this bill. Due to unforseen circumstances, the prime sponsor was unable to introduce the bill nor explain it. We had no testimony for or against. As legislators we have an obligation to due diligence. In this case, it would have been to Refer this for Interim Study and hear testimony from at least the prime sponsor.
