Committee — INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE
The intent of this bill was to bring reliable sources of energy to the granite state. In testimony the sponsor pointed out that the businesses in New Hampshire need energy to produce their products and services. Intermittent sources, such as solar, wind, and hydro are simply not enough for any sort of manufacturing. The sponsor further challenged the committee that if they eliminated everything in their possession that was made with a hydrocarbon, gas, oil, or coal, what would they be left with? This is an issue that the majority believes should not be dismissed, but the committee all agrees that, based on the testimony from the utilities, this bill could very well raise electricity rates, if passed. Vote 17-0.
