Committee — OUGHT TO PASS
This bill corrects an accidental reduction of dog license fees created in 2024 by HB 1626. That bill sought to adjust several dedicated funds within the Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Foods, including the Animal Population Control Fund and the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Fund. The intent was to decrease the funding of the Animal Population Control Fund by 25 cents and reassign that amount to the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Fund, but because of the peculiar way the RSAs are presented in Chapter 466, the amount collected by municipalities was inadvertently reduced by 25 cents. This bill corrects that error so the municipalities can collect the fee amounts they did in the past. Vote 14-1.
