Committee — OUGHT TO PASS
This bill was a department request to close a loophole in the current pet vendor statute. This law requires that a person selling more than 30 dogs, cats, or ferrets in a year be licensed as a pet vendor. Some people were circumventing this by ascribing sales of slightly fewer than 30 animals to each of multiple residents of the same home, so the total number of animals sold without licensure significantly exceeded 30. The bill corrects this by associating the vendor license requirement with a specific physical facility as well as the person who is the potential licensee. Vote 14-0.
