This bill is a mandate on public education, requiring high school students to learn about hunting, wildlife management, and responsible firearms usage. 4 6 FEBRUARY 2026 HOUSE RECORD Funding for this mandate would be 1% of the proceeds deposited into the Education Trust Fund. It would expand the definition of an adequate education and require the Department of Education and the Fish and Game Commission to collaborate on policy approval and curriculum guidelines. The committee also heard testimony from Prospect Mountain School District that this course is an option for their students and that it was not difficult to implement under existing law. Since 1953, RSA 194:17 has allowed for decisions to be made locally without any burdensome mandates. Vote 16-0.
